In the beginning you will have trouble coordinating both of them at the them at the same time, but with experience you will find the rythm. Simutaneously you have to input commands with the d-pad for your partner. You do different gestures with the stylus to execute abilities. You control the main character with the stylus. In battle your main character fights in the lower screen while your partner fights in the upper one. Like everything you do via gameplay makes sense from a story perspective. The whole game is designed in a way that everything makes sense and plays well together. I really love the story and how its told. The story is simple compared to many other JRPGs but the game knows what it wants to get across and focuses on it. It's not that long of a game if you don't go for the post-game content, though it's well worth it. I have fond memories of playing Symphonia on Gamecube back then with my little brother.Ĭlick to shrink.I would recommend The World Ends With You for the DS. I have that game on Steam from a Humble Monthly so I will also check that one out. However, the problem I'm having with XC2 is that, being a rather large game, it likes to takes things slowly, and I'm still trying to get accustomed to this kinds of lengths, compared to the usual fare of 10 hour actions games. I have seen that I gravitate towards turn-based systems, but it can also be real time (one of the games that I have been playing is Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and while having a really daunting system for a newcomer like me, I have had lots of fun so far). Good story is welcome but not vital (I would actually prefer having a fun battle system if I had to choose). I would like a handheld JRPG (can be any handheld console, DS/3DS/PSP/PSVita/Switch), not overly long (30? hours or so) that does not take very long to "get things going".

I wanted to ask you guys, would you mind if I request your advice? I have never been much of a fan of JRPGs, but for whatever reason something has clicked inside me in the last few months and all of a sudden I have started to get into them.
